Questions about sheet music with note names

How do I add note names to sheet music?

Upload a PDF or a clear image, choose your pages, and select Add note names. Recognition continues in your library. Open the ready score in the note-name viewer to choose above or below, review the labels, and download your PDF.

Does it label sharps, flats, and notes in a key signature?

Yes. Labels use the pitches and spelling in the recognized MusicXML, including sharps, flats, and changes of key. Recognition can make mistakes, so compare the preview with your original. Click a label to correct its name.

Can I put the note names below the notes?

Yes. Switch between Above and Below without recognizing the score again. You can also change label size and show octave numbers, such as C4.

Will it keep my original sheet music layout?

Frettify renders a new score from the recognized notation. Notes and rhythms are carried through from recognition, but fonts, spacing, system breaks, and page breaks may differ. The original upload can be compared in the preview when it is available.

Do I need a subscription?

No subscription is required. Use Frettify conversion credits: one credit per PDF or image page, or one credit per MusicXML import. New accounts can try a page with their free conversion credit. Credit packs are one-time purchases, and unused credits never expire.

Does changing placement or downloading another PDF cost credits?

No. After recognition, you can move the names above or below, adjust the labels, reopen the saved MusicXML score, and download PDFs without another recognition charge.

Can I label piano music with both hands?

Yes. The preview includes recognized treble and bass staves, and chord notes receive individual names. Clear printed scores work best. Dense arrangements, poor photos, and handwriting may need correction.
